Minneapolis-based singer/songwriter Rachel Kurtz is a mix of soul, Americana, and blues, backed by top local session players.
Minneapolis-based Going To The Sun blends earthy acoustic roots with electric pop-rock energy.
Rachel Kurtz is known for her powerhouse voice and magnetic presence, Kurtz has built a national following through performances at major community service events in stadiums like the Georgia Dome and Superdome, raising awareness for causes like hunger relief and multicultural reconciliation.
Going to the Sun‘s sound is shaped by a Montana upbringing and the rich Twin Cities music scene, exploring themes of loss, healing, and resilience.
Formed by David Young after a personal loss, the project became a powerful outlet for hope. Joined by Zach Young, and later Justin Rieken and Charlie Peterson, the band’s debut was named one of Minnesota’s best albums by The Current (89.3).
With two albums out, a third on the horizon, and shows alongside Cloud Cult, Lukas Graham, and Ingrid Michaelson, Going To The Sun continues to turn heartache into anthemic beauty.
